Reinventing Your Career

 

Sometimes there are pivotal moments in our work life when the work we are doing is no longer relevant. Changes in industry regulations, post IPO events, business paradigm shifts, an industry downturn or consolidation make it evident that you must redefine your career objectives and identify new options that match your emerging professional identity. The dot-com implosion is a compelling example.

The reinvention process was design by Lili Pratt King to integrate her business experience in career assessment, coaching, executive search and outplacement into one program. Lili will help you brainstorm new career objectives and identify target markets, functions or different industries. You will explore specific jobs within the framework of your financial and life objectives. Lili is certified in nine assessment tools and will select two of the most appropriate for you. You will use data to link your new career direction to your gifts, interests, management style, optimal work environment and back-up behaviors.

Once the new options are clear, Lili will share business contacts, leads and strategic approaches for your discovery process. You will interview many people in your target fields and develop the appropriate collateral, networking models and follow-up techniques. Once actual job possibilities have been unearthed, she will help you assess your options, negotiate your package and manage your references.

Career Crossroads Program Description

 This Career Crossroads Coaching Program was developed for high potential managers who are preparing for significant shift in their careers. The opportunity for change in job content caused by promotion, acquisition, a shift in geography, function or scope of responsibility, invites each participant to rethink their present career objectives and strategies.  Originally developed for Hewlett Packard’s Accelerated Development Program, the program has been incorporated into many Bay Area companies during the past decade.  It is used by companies going through exceptional change to identify, retain and prepare managers for increased effectiveness. It is designed to improve their management effectiveness and expand their focus and productivity. Most of the program participants report a higher level of contribution at the completion of the program.

The program includes the use of the Myers Briggs and Birkman Method as the primary assessment tools.  Over the course of the coaching program, the participant identifies his or her unique competencies and interests within the context of the sponsoring company or the external market. They then assess their new management objectives and interests compared to their present management techniques, styles, and backup behaviors.  This is used to do gap analysis or brainstorm appropriate options.  The result is to identify specific areas in which they can improve their work satisfaction and performance either by improving existing management practices or learning new ones.

The goal of the program is to provide each participant an increased knowledge of themselves, their goals and their potential opportunities. This awareness becomes a rudder used by each participant to continue to manage his or her own career through future shifts in the company landscape.

The cost for a three month, six month or one year program is linked to the coaching objectives and scope of responsibility.  

Career Tune Up

Once the new options are clear, Lili will partner with you through your discovery process. You will interview many people in your company, or target fields, practice networking, reciprocation and follow-up techniques. Once actual job possibilities have been unearthed, she will help you assess your options, negotiate your promotion or select the most appropriate next option. 

Small Business Reinvention

 

As your business grows, there are times when the way you are working is no longer effective. This may be caused by industry growth or downturn, fundamental changes in your business strategy, a need to reorganize, incorporating new technologies, retirement and succession planning or competing family objectives.  At this time, it becomes evident that you must redefine the leader’s objectives and identify new options that match the emerging business objectives.

The reinvention process was designed by Lili Pratt King to integrate her business experience with small family owned partnerships and service businesses and career coaching practices.  Lili will help clarify how you manage what is needed now, and help you decide how you can adapt to be more effective.  You will explore specific objectives, interests, management style, communication practices, optimal work environment and counterproductive behaviors.  Within the framework of your financial and life objectives, you will identify and practice new work habits that are more productive and gratifying. Lili is certified in nine assessment tools and will select two of the most appropriate for you.

Once the new management practices are identified, Lili will help you incorporate your new approach into the day to day duties and responsibilities. Often she coaches multiple senior management team members in succession to ensure that everyone on the team is aligned and working together.  

Coaching for Senior Executives

 Coaching at the senior level focuses on improving effectiveness of the Executive and increasing the level of contribution as well as personal satisfaction. The goal is improved self knowledge and awareness of their impact at all levels of the company. The result is a more authenticd leader who provides a greater contribution with more effective leadership capability. 

Myers-Briggs Team Building Training

 The day long Myers-Briggs training was developed by Lili Pratt king as a tool for managers and teams to gain increased understanding of each other to increase communication, collaboration, and creative problem solving among themselves. Each participant will complete a Myers-Briggs assessment. The Myers-Briggs theory will be applied to real business issues the group is facing and will be used to brainstorm solutions. The goal is to get the group to use the Myers-Briggs tool to diagnose others in order to productively communicate, make decisions, and build positive rapport.
